Salmon

Summertime is salmon season. Salmon are the best eating fish out of Lake Michigan.  There are two types of salmon in Lake Michigan. Coho salmon are smaller but the best table fare available.  Kings are the largest, hardest fighting fish in freshwater.  When it comes to catching salmon, we primarily offer trolling trips but can also catch these fish jigging when conditions are right.

When to catch

  • Primarily summer.
  • In fall, salmon migrate to the rivers to spawn.  During this time of year they can also be caught on several light tackle approaches.

Where to catch

  • Lake Michigan

Trout

Milwaukee is home to some of the biggest brown trout in the world. There are 3 types of trout in Lake Michigan that we target (1) browns (2) lake trout and (3) rainbow trout. All three species can be caught year-round with peak bites occurring at different times. Much of our fishing for these species is done hands-on with casting and jigging approaches.

Walleye

Walleye are my favorite species to target.  We offer both trophy trips as well as numbers trips to fill your freezer.  Most of our walleye fishing is done in spring although certain bites exist throughout the summer and fall as well. Trophy fishing is typically done on Green Bay while numbers bites and eater fish are typically caught on the Winnebago Chain, Wisconsin River system and Rock River.

When to catch

  • Primarily spring but some summer and fall bites exist

Panfish

Panfish are great table fare as well as a fun option for kids.  Most of our pan fishing is done on a few inland lakes in Southeastern Wisconsin.  Catch consists of primarily bluegills and crappies but also some perch.
